State-of-the-art research – both in the clinic and in the lab – is a hallmark of the UT Cancer Institute and a vital component of the treatment our patients receive. Developing new drugs, new methods of treatment, new nursing techniques and more requires a team effort, as does the eradication of cancer. UTCI laboratory scientists bring to the forefront new knowledge about cancer biology and new drugs targeting molecular abnormalities in the malignant cell, while clinical investigators assess how cancer impacts the patients’ lives and how well our therapies, new and old, work to improve outcomes for these patients. We believe this exchange of knowledge between those at the bedside and those at the bench is imperative to the success of our mission. Research remains paramount to our goal of establishing the UT Cancer Institute as the premier cancer center in the Mid-South.
